A copypasta is a block of text copied and pasted to the Internet and social media.
Copypasta containing controversial ideas or lengthy rants are often posted for humorous
purposes, to provoke reactions from those unaware that the posted text is an internet meme.
They are truly digital-only items, walls of pixels that don't exist in any physical realm.
They are born, mutated, and often die entirely within the luminous borders of our screens.
They are folk literature for the internet age: anonymous, iterative, and absurdly democratic. Anyone can create one; some will just be a flash in the pan, vanishing over time. Where others will pollute the internet for decades.
An archive of texts that were never meant to be collected, a formal record of informal culture. Capturing not just the words themselves but a lens of how communities communicate, how online humor has evolved, and what messages users deemed worth repeating into the digital void.
